About Menu Randomizer

Recipes are almost never written for the exact number of guests you're feeding or the pan size you own. Menu Randomizer rescales ingredient quantities, converts between cup and gram measurements, and adjusts cooking times so your dish turns out right the first time. Open it on your phone right in the kitchen — no app install needed.

How to use Menu Randomizer

  1. Enter the original recipe yield (servings or weight) and your target yield.
  2. Paste or type the ingredient list with their quantities and units.
  3. Press Scale to get the adjusted amounts, already rounded to practical measures.
  4. Check the notes section for temperature or time adjustments relevant to the change in batch size.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool convert between weight and volume?
Yes, for common ingredients with known densities (flour, sugar, butter, etc.). Unusual ingredients may not be in the database — for those, weigh directly with a kitchen scale for accuracy.
Can I use it for baking recipes where ratios are critical?
Scaling baked goods is reliable for moderate changes (half or double a recipe). Very large or very small batches may affect leavening behaviour; the tool notes this where relevant.
Does it adjust oven temperature or cooking time?
Cooking time suggestions are shown as guidelines for batch-size changes. Oven temperature generally stays the same, but pan size changes can affect heat distribution — use a thermometer to confirm doneness.
Are the nutritional estimates accurate?
Nutrition figures use standard USDA-sourced averages per ingredient and are suitable for general planning. For medically precise tracking (e.g., diabetic meal planning), use a certified nutrition app.
Is my recipe data saved between visits?
No. The tool processes your inputs locally and does not retain them. Copy your scaled recipe to a notes app before closing the tab.
